These photos were taken right after my migration to Australia from Russia. I decided to use them rather than others because this event means a lot for me. They reflect my perception of the wonderful country and hospitable Australian people. New life in new country, another language and no friends – these factors pushed me to thinking about my path. In recent years, my IT profession has frustrated me because computers, software developments, implementation projects make me crazy. However, my career in IT was very successful and kept me busy and well paid. Because of my coming migration to Australia I decided to earn money and put aside my own wishes and feelings.
Two months ago, I moved to Sydney from a small town in the East part of Russia. I have a lot of time nowadays because of unemployment and the only thing I can do here to occupy myself is photography. Photography stays with me during my whole life. I always take my camera with me. People usually tell that I have talents to photography but the real meaning of photography I realized only in last 6 months. Things, which attract me, make me tick. I feel myself happy only when going to a new place, shooting interesting people, trying to be a part of it. And after that share my visual story with friends. Conceptual things about photography started to form in my head. I realized that my favorite genres are street and travel photography and would like to make personal projects in it.
I have had all day selection of photos for the opportunity to be trained by Jason Edwards. These are not my best photos but I believe I made a right choice. I am 28 years old migrant in a new country and I would like to change my career in align with my own interests. It is essential for me to be well and happy.
