My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

When i was a child my teacher, Miss Budgen asked her class to do a project on any country in the world. I chose Chile. 20 years later i moved to Chile for three months, during which time i took this series of photographs. It took me 20 years but heres the proof!
Theres the warm welcoming heart of the capital city at dusk, Alameda, the main street of Santiago, hiding stories and smog. The port city of Valparaiso has a pagoda overlooking the shipping docks where lovers meet and street dogs smile. Houses upon colourful houses show a candy store side and the street art envelopes the city in an example with a simple clothesline painted on a wall. North in the driest desert in the world, San Pedro De Atacama, I found what seemed like the only tree left in a long ago crumbled mining town, hundreds of miles from water.
Im a kiwi girl who loves photography but doesnt know quite enough about it! One of my main inspirations to travel is to take photos. Some people take photos because they travel but i like to travel because i want photos! I went to Valparaiso simply to take photos of street art and look what else i found!
I take photos upon photos and travel wide and far but have yet to do anything with them. I try not to go adventuring without a camera. I love learning about compositions and capturing light. I have simply picked up information as I go from friends and family but I relish the thought of learning more and finding an avenue to create more stunning photos. This sounds like the perfect opportunity for me!
