My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I am a paediatric eye surgeon practicing in Bengaluru in India. I have been learning photography ever since I was in the 9th grade. With my own darkroom and my father's SLR camera, I learnt to play with images and light - first black and white and now digital. Becoming an eye surgeon was a natural progression for me, as I was learning about the human 'camera' and how it can be 'fixed' when it does not work well. My profession has taken me to different parts of the world, including North America, Europe and Africa. I have started to learn more about different cultures around the world and my hunger for more has begun. Yes, I am now officially bitten by the travel bug! Travel photography has become a passion in the past few years. I would like to travel to the corners of the world to capture the way people interact with each other and their environment. I want to learn to emote the worlds beauty through my pictures. I want to learn to take pictures that can tell a story, and inspire people to be bitten by the bug that got me going. Winning this contest will help me greatly by sharpening my photography skills, and thus fuel a nagging desire to pursue my passion.
