My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Kenya | Sunday, August 8, 2010 | 4 photos
The photos I have chosen are four basic shots from a recent trip to Kenya. The children featured are all primary school aged, from Heroes of the Nation orphanage. I chose these images because I wish to step away from the 'nameless faces' technique so many photographers employ - though very creative, real people are often forgetten in the process. In today's day and age it is so easy to disconnect with the reality of the world, and forget about the struggles people outside our personal space endure. As a complete and absolute amatuer photographer, I took these photos on my family's Sony HandyCam. However I do believe, despite the basic technique involved, that they give an insight into the reality of these children. If I was given the opportunity to learn from some of the best photographers of today I would be able to enhance my interests and grow them into something that I can one day use to show others the world - the real world. I am very keen to learn and willing to do what ever it takes to make my passion a reality.
