My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Syria | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I am Ashraf Ghalia, 23-years old, from Syria. I graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Aleppo, 2011. I lived in Aleppo for my whole life, until the end of 2011, then the revolution that turned out to be a civil war pushed me out of there. In college I met the camera for the first time as something more than simply a metal or plastic box with a button and a flash light. I loved having it with me all the time while traveling around Syria and sometimes outside it. I bought a small camera because I couldn’t afford a big one, but I love him! He's a Sony H20, and I still use him now.
I am attracted to shapes, shades and colors, but I think that the precious, remarkable and appreciable moments run too fast to be depicted by pencil! I try to use my camera to capture all that I emotionally engage with, and give it a touch of color the way I like it.
For me, I have so many emotions to give and so many more reactions to those emotions that I want to capture worldwide. Yes I want to share my colors with every one, and I need a hand to open the window to the world for me, and hopefully it can be your hand. The world is full of colors and color lovers— I want to be the bridge between them.
