Bridging Cultures

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Ghana | Saturday, January 12, 2013 | 5 photos

My name is Asare Adjei, my professional background is in the field of Architecture which I have been professionally working in for the past 13yrs. I recently discovered a passion for photography and I will love the opportunity to learn and build up on my new skills and also share my work.

To me photography is a language that speaks directly to our collective soul. It’s a medium that by-passes language and helps bridge world cultures together.

I love being able to capture life stories through photography, and help bring a voice to those who maybe socially voiceless. I think it’s easy to miss those in society who may not have a strong media presence, and as such their stories often go unheard.

When I travel I try to seek out and photograph these people and help illuminate their unique life stories/ journeys, as well as help bring new understanding of our shared collective human experience.

I hope to be able to do the same in Oman and learn as much as possible from Jason Edwards, who I feel speaks a similar visual language/objective about the natural world and wildlife.
