My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Australia | Sunday, October 16, 2011 | 5 photos
I'm Arzu from Australia who has always had a keen interest in photography but has only recently upgraded to a SLR camera. Until this year I always saw photgraphy as a dream that was unachievable as it is such a competitive field. But as Ive grown older ive become to believe in myself and now ready to show the rest of the world my point of view from behind the lens. When taking photos I like to look at an object or event from an unique or alternative angle to give a different perspective. For me a photo can tell so much depending from where the photo has been taken from. And this is why I have applied for this scholorship. I need to learn so much more to take my creativity and photos to another level. I now have the equipment and commitment to learn all I need is the mentoring and guidance from a teacher. Why travel photography? Because it combines my two passions. As indicated I love photography but travel is also just as important for me. I live and work to tred the world and then capture the moments im living. My Photo entry consists photos from my recent trip to Cuba. I chose to reflect the streets of Trinidad in the 5 photos. Every photo i wanted to show the cobblestone streets which is unique to this town compared to anywhere else in Cuba. Then the angle which the photos were taken i wanted the cobblestones to be at a lower level where it leads to the subject or event which seem to be at a higher point of view. The streets of Trinidad is the link between all photos. Each indiviual photo in turn represents a cultural or unique part of Cuba . The chess players in the street, the musician playing Salsa, the old American car, dog laying in the street, palm trees and old historic buildings these together make Cuba but identified in a small town. Viva La Cuba!
