My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Travel is the love of my life. Photographing and writing about the places I visit and people I meet is the means by which I share that love with others. Early in 2012, I decided to take my relationship with travel to the next level. I left my job as a corporate lawyer and dedicated myself to traveling, planning trips and documenting my experiences.
As my devotion to travel grew, so did my desire to capture each experience on film more meaningfully. No longer satisfied with the automatic setting on my point and shoot, I upgraded to a DSLR and began playing with apertures and shutter speeds to suit different subjects and capture movement. I have come a long way this year but my knowledge of more advanced techniques and equipment is severely lacking. I want to improve my photography skills in order to better tell the stories from my travels that fill me with such passion and to share this passion with a wider audience.
The opportunity to visit Oman on assignment with National Geographic and to shoot alongside Jason Edwards would be this lovestruck traveler’s dream come true. I want nothing more than to continue my love affair with travel in 2013 and see where it takes me next.
