As a documentary maker I been trying to choose subjects related with art to show new ways to face reality and problem solving. My ambition is to show new possibilities rather than new problems. For this piece, for example, I was inspired for how the idea of a free store is alien to our culture, how strange it seems to be for a society based in the constantly production and purchase of commodities as a way of being part of it. So I was really interested in the reaction of the people trading without money.
I planned this piece after I knew about the idea by chance. I contacted the artist to get permission to shoot the process and then I spent long time at the store asking questions about the nature of money in our society, following people to find out in which contexts the food was going to be consumed. The most challenge thing was to avoid the routine and trying to get different reactions from people.
