My Scholarship entry - A local encounter that changed my life

I’m Arief Julio S. Budi. A 20 years old boy who lives downtown in Bandung, Indonesia. I’m a low cost traveller. And love a backpacking travel.
Last few months, i and my friend travel to Ciroyom, Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia. We’re just come as a visitor. First time i set my foot in there, i feel like i’m in the middle of untouched region. Well, some of the buildings are built in a new constructions, but the rest of others still use the same like hundreds years ago.
I came to one house that not been touched by the modernism era. And they were really welcoming me as someone that siblinged to them, in fact i don’t, even i haven’t met them before in the rest of my life.
The house is so characteristic, somehow it’s horrific for the one who used to live downtown. And, noted. There’s no such thing as signal available there. In all operators (i was checked on all my operators i brought there). After i cleaned my self up, i was served in traditional foods. There was a rice, fried tofu and tempe, and salted fish with the raw chili sauce. We sat in the floor around (with no table), and makes a circle in the room with the foods center us. So, epic moments for me. When you’re just have an eat in an expensive resto with a flat talks and no epic feels, and now find these kinship in the small room with a dim lights, lack of signal, and simple foods. So deep epic moments.
When i awoke in the morning, i was greeting with a smile, and do the things they’re doing. Farming. With the uncle and granpa, It’s heat up. But, still they’re doing with smile, and no difficulty. We were eat after the womans bring us the pail of (again) simply foods. I just wonder how can they live so ease in the harsh era like this, and the uncle’s said “hirup mah kumaha urang nu mawa, jang.. mun dibawa hese nya hese.. mun emang mah, mawa na bagja, jeung bersyukur..” (life is depends on how we react to it, son.. if we deal with adversity, we will be so.. but i just respond with joy and grattitude)
