My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Uganda | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

I'm 27 nearly 28 and since I can remember I have loved taking photos. Travel is in my bones. A few weeks ago I returned from a seven-month backpacking trip. 204-days in total that took me to the United States, Central America, Europe and Africa. Since I have returned my friends and family keep asking me the same question "Which place was your favourite?" But who can have a favourite! Each place was so unique, the people all different and the landscapes so varied. As I write this, I realise my favourite part wasn't a specific country or place but getting my camera out and taking photos discovering each destination, meeting new people and admiring the beauty of the landscapes through the art of photography. Just me and my camera. I feel when I pick up my camera I come alive. It's what I should be doing. The world my office. Me, a photographer. The chance to join Jason Edwards, a National Geographic Photographer on an assignment to Oman would be more than a dream come true. That saying is so cliche its true meaning has been lost. The mere thought of working alongside Jason revelling in the local life of Oman, somewhere I am yet to discover makes my blood race like crazy!
