My Scholarship entry - Uganda in Greyscale

I consider myself to be a visual storyteller. I am constantly inspired by story - whether it's through photography, music, dance, or any kind of art. People can write about far off lands and people, but I want to go. I want to hear the stories, learn the traditions, and experience the day to day firsthand. Granted, days can last more than 18 hours, but sleep exhaustion and heightened senses allow me to see the world more vividly. Travel has taught me to find beauty in every circumstance, to move and be still simultaneously. This world is nothing without stories, and I want to learn to tell them effectively.
The opportunity to be mentored by a master storyteller would be beyond beneficial to me and my work. Jason Edwards has a way of giving a narration and illustration through just an image. For someone to see my work and say, "this is a beautiful story", just by seeing the connection between the subject, light, composition, and color... That's my dream. I feel as though I would gain a lot and learn so much from working side by side with Jason Edwards.
