My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Being born into a family that had a business made a deep impact on me: my parents played a big role in the decisions I made and the paths I've taken. Sometimes, I find myself wondering about several other futures I did not choose. It seems as if my life is merely a result of serial possibilities that came to be. Every moment is fleeting and it slips by so fast that we sometimes fail to feel, to relate, to live life itself.

This is where my passion for photography enters. In the truest sense, I simply love traveling and taking photos. The experience of being surrounded by a completely different environment and engulfed in a foreign culture can be sometimes overwhelming yet so life-changing. It opens your eyes to so many realities that you can only realize that it exists at the same time we live our own detached lives. To be able to take a piece of that experience with you as a reminder of a world out there waiting to be explored, is none like any other. I am awed by the power of photos to capture a fleeting moment in its full essence.

I believe I should be chosen not because of the photos I can take, but because of the moments I choose to capture and the memories I choose to keep.
