This grumpy Romanian immigrant in a traditional leprechaun costume is symbolic of the wave of Eastern European migrants who now represent much of the new labour workforce in Ireland...to the discontent of some Irish.

The collapse of the banks in the Great Financial Crisis has left the Irish economy in ruins and forced many people out of jobs long thought secure. Younger people and students have been especially hard hit and the seemingly inherent Irish talent for music, now helps to put food on the table.

The harp, a symbol of Ireland and the guitar, a modern, imported instrument, played in harmony to sell Irish culture to the world, for euros. A symbol of how the old and the new may carry Ireland into the future without losing its past.
