The way it was meant to work

It is the most unexpected and the most powerful things that possess us to commit to most risky decisions. It was affection that helped me cross the cultural border months before I got my stamp in the passport.
My Egypt started in Germany. At the event with over 350 participants from the most exotic corners of the world I found what I was looking for, I learned about love and affection. But at that time my journey had just began, it was emotions able to devour but failing to provide any logic, and they only grew stronger when the distance of countries and seas was between us.
Almost a year later, I was ready, bags packed, tickets in hand, visa secured in my passport. Anticipation in my case always brings excitement but it blends in anxiety in a chloroform-like perfume. There was nothing scarier and more desirable than standing in line at the airport check in, longing for that moment I finally see him, finally hold him and look into his eyes again. And yet, there was an entirely different feeling present at the same time. Was I really doing it for him, or was I coming there for me? Maybe wanderlust was the real reason I finally broke my 5 yearlong plane flying break.
My doubts were nothing but meaningless and soon among the deserts and palm trees it all went horribly awry. It was not the ‘ride off together into the sunset’ type of a scenario, it was a ride without an end; it was a story without a climax.
Instead, my journey continued somewhere entirely different. Expecting to touch a soul of one person was not what fate had in mind for me, I was aiming low. Rejection in my case led to acceptance and it was radiant in a very different, very vigorous way. I expected to open a window, but I broke down the door. And what happens when you break down a door like that is you get into a whirlpool of events that make the whole world limitless. Love left my heart and yet it got stronger as the feeling of ‘home’ grew intense. Love has found its own unique manifestation and grabbed my heart not to let go. If I were to say what made my experience so outstanding, it would be the incredible individuals that came my way. That is what home is all about - the people that surround you. Perhaps it was never only him that occupied my dreams but more so the anticipation of coming to the land of culture, cuisine, discoveries and passion.
