My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Thailand | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I was given my first camera in grade 10, a small point and shoot
camera and have engaged in photography since, reading through photography websites to master the techniques. For a long time I thought my photos were nice, but soon these photos of pets, flowers... became tasteless. I tried to find a source of inspiration for my photos.
I discovered that traveling adds a distinct feeling to photography, and in turns photography makes a journey much more memorable (not only in literal sense). Carrying my camera out to explore new places becomes my most enjoyable activity. With a camera in hand, you'll become a more attentive observer of your surrounding, and can notice angles, faces,... that you normally don't without a photographic intention.
Photography means more than self-expression. It's a medium to keep & share moments and feelings at a certain place and time, for a moment captured is preserved forever together with the thought and feeling I have when pressing the shutter speed.
I'm still nowhere near a photography career, but this dream keeps growing bigger. This scholarship'll be an incredible opportunity for me to be guided and inspired to step into professional photography.
