Black Pearl Paradis

French Polynesia | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

On Kamoka farm we worked hand in hand with nature to create beautiful eco friendly black pearls. This remote French Polynesia atoll was like nowhere else I have ever visited, a true utopia.

From using the reefs many fish to clean the oysters and our dishes (!) to solar panels, rain collection everything here was done in a sustainable manner. From my photos I tried to show every aspect of a day in the life at Kamoka farm from sunrise to sunset, working hard to deliver the finest pearls and rewarding ourselves with the freshest fish could ever wish to catch.

Sustainability is a topic that I feel strongly about and I believe that photography and film can convey its importance providing us with powerful and pressing messages. We need to share reminders of what true beauty really is and just how many different forms it can come in. I believe this can be used to help promote the preservation of such natural environments of which the Savannah is a prime example, it would be a honor to be given the opportunity to capture such raw and powerful animals in the wild.

My relationship with photography is a relatively new one which blossomed at the start of the year, introducing a whole new dimension to my nodamic lifestyle. As a fast learner I know that guidance from Jason Edwards would be invaluable especially on a technical and visual level and I believe that my fortes are my creative and physical abilities. Unsociable hours and risky working environments would be perks of the job and for me a perfect shot is one which you have to work for.

As a bright, excitable and audacious individual from the Heart of Scotland I would give this project my all and know I would take such a huge amount from the experience. Please consider me and I will not disappoint.

Anna.
