My Scholarship entry - Costa Rica Up Close

As we go about our daily lives, many people have a schedule, a destination for the day. Often, we forget to take it slow and really pay attention to the details on the way to where we're going. It's not always about the destination, many times the journey is more important. After traveling to many different countries all over the world, the places that I love the most are the ones where people appreciate life and cherish the small things. When it comes to nature, taking a moment to stop and look around leads to wonderful discoveries. The little critters are often the most fascinating ones, and a little extra time spent getting to know each subject really allows me to see the beauty in each animal. As an inspiring herpetologist and nature photographer, I take great pride and joy in capturing portraits of animals that may otherwise go unseen and unappreciated. Traveling and familiarizing myself with the way life works around the world, both with animals and humans, is what keeps my blood running and my heart pumping. A person cannot understand themselves until they understand the world around them. My entire life is a journey, fueled by all the lovely details hiding in plain sight.
