My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

The photographs had been taken at Gangasagar fair, India that sees an assembly of over hundred thousand pilgrims every year during mid January to take a holy bath in the mouth of River Ganges. My portfolio tries to catch the essence of the fair- the crowd, the people, their faith, traditions.
I am an amateur travel photographer, looking to take it as a profession. My passion for photography drives me through extensive travels in different parts of India which is very rich in her diversities. I am a self taught and my inspirations come from the works of great photographers, whom I know only through their books and magazines. Like millions around this planet, I am a die-hard admirer of the Nat-Geo society and dream to be a part of it. Your scholarship gives a chance to come in direct contact to an award-winning photographer like Jason Edwards , and to have a first hand learning. That, along with my experience of self assignments to various locations of India would prove to make an excellent travel photographer of me.
