My Scholarship entry - Bwindi

My name is Anika Craney. I’m 23 and live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. I have been fascinated with photography from an early age. I am just as passionate about nature. Your scholarship would be fulfilling a dual dream: combining these two passions.
Whilst studying for an Arts degree, I saved enough to begin my exploration of East Africa – Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda.
It was in Tanzania that I had the great fortune of assisting adventure photographer and cinematographer Peter Greig, in capturing and documenting “Wings of Kilimanjaro”, an adventure charity event. I assisted the ground co-ordinator and as well as the photography crew.
I learnt so much from this experience, I had the privilege of not only seeing close up but shooting the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro from a helicopter flying above peak height. I hope to have many more moments of equally profound quality in my future travels, and to bring back images and share stories that reflect a world so worthy of exploration. I am not afraid of unknown territories; I am always eager to learn more, do more, see more. I am willing to do what it takes to maximize my experiences and to throw myself into the moment completely.
