It's a Norfolk Island pine.........are you going to Norfolk Island?

Vicki, did you know that.?...Large numbers of Norfolk Island Pines are produced in South Florida for the houseplant industry. The bulk of these are shipped to grocery stores, discount retailers and garden centers during November. Many of these are sprayed with a light coating of green paint prior to sale to increase their eye appeal. Cheerios

Yes, you are correct, as a child in the 50s I remember many sold as Christmas trees with the paint on them (sometimes green, sometimes white and my favorite - PINK!).
They are, however, indigenous to Norfolk Island and the surrounding region. Unlike the conifers of the northern coniferous forests, they are not particularly cold hardy and don't they like it very hot either.
