Kruger NP

I've just returned from the amazing Kruger NP and what an aesome adventure it was! I saw so much wildlife, I saw the entire big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant) in the first 3 hours of the first day! Plus I saw giraffes, zebras, warthog, hippo, kudu, impala, crocodiles, everything! Its amazing how close the animals are too, there's no fences or glass separating you from them. If they really wanted to there'd be nothing stopping them from jumping into the truck. thankfully they didn't though!! we also went on a night drive and found a pride of about 8 lions going on a hunt and when we came back the next morning, there's this massive buffalo with half its guts hanging out and a lioness still having a feed! our top shelf guide then tracked the rest of the pride and we found two females and a big male cruising along, then they stopped like 2 metres away from our truck and were chillin on the road in front of us! I'm tellin ya, nothing beats the excitement you feel when you're that close to the king of the jungle.

the people on the tour were heaps awesome too, which is a bonus when you rock up to these things on your own. the facilities at the camp were 5 star, permanent structures, a bar, itwas heaven in the bush! we also spent a night at the jane goodall institute, its basically a sanctuary for rescued chimps and they have this plush ass luxury lodge there. i felt a bit like a bum rocking up with my backpack and sleeping bag and they're offering a three course meal and robes in the rooms! thats right, robes!!! and being able to wash my hair was simply devine, i was starting to get a dreddy rats tail!

anyway thats it for me, i'm heading to the lion king tonight which i'm super excited about. then off to kenya tomorrow to start the volunteer project so its the end of my shortlived backpacker holiday and back to the working world, sort of! peace, love, respect...ange

Hey there Ange

Hows it going? Sounds like you're having a ball. I wouldn't blame your mum for the scare, so take care and I know you'll be fine. Have you started using your phrases yet that you learnt or not yet?
Anyhow I just wanted to send a hey there and see how you doing. Will send again once you get into the groove of working life there. Peace out dudette! I am so proud of you!

Love
