touch down in jo'burg after what felt like the never ending day of flying! I've never been so tired in my life, i was so physically and mentally exhausted that when i was watching the bridge to terabithia on the plane i had to really bite my lower lip for fear out bursting into tears. it was so sad!!
what i've seen on jo'burg so far is not exactly what i'd expected. the fact that i wasn't mugged at the airport was also an added bonus! the plush houses with ten foot fences and razor wire at the top is a bit confronting though. it reminded me of wacol prison! but you've got to wonder if its all really neccessary....
My hostel is really great, friendly staff only too happy to drive me around which is nice! I'm sharing with a canadian girl who's been a wealth of knowledge having been in the country for 9 weeks. although i'm beginning to doubt her wisdom somewhat, she said it was fine to drink the tap water, she's been doing it and she's been fine. i drank a glass this morning and when i was on the phone to mum before i had to go cos i was about to faint and had to go and spend some time in the toilet. i think i gave both mum and myself a bit of a fright and needless to say i'm sticking to bottled water from here on in.
well thats it from me for now, i'm doing a soweto tour and the apartheid museum tomorrow and i'll be contacting a friend of a friend to meet up and hopefully see the local's view of jo'burg on the weekend. then on monday i'm off to kruger. peace..ange
