As a lover of travel and adventure, I set out with my second-hand SLR and my backpackers gear. With a perceptive eye and creative drive I discovered the magical world of travel photography.

It was such a thrill to be able capture those special moments that disappear in the blink of an eye on film. To be able to share the emotion and experiences I have when I travel through photography is such a wonderful opportunity for me.

The more I travel the more poignant and creative my photos become. However I am still quite the amateur and lack the technical skill and expertise to fully embrace the art of photography. To be able to learn alongside an expert in the field would be an honour and an absolute blessing.

I have also long dreamed of travelling to Bhutan, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw that this assignment went there! A country with its doors closed to the rest of the world for so long, a country that measures its GNH (Gross National Happiness) as a policy and one that has such a tight control on the number of tourists allowed each year? I simply must win this competition so I can see Bhutan, develop as a photographer and relish in all this experience has to offer!
