Dakshinkali Temple, Pharping, Nepal

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Nepal | Monday, December 24, 2012 | 5 photos

I am an amateur photographer and a social scientist (that crunches numbers) by profession. I have always been fascinated by photographs and their unique ability to convey stories to those that view them.

I bought my first SLR 15 years ago and I resisted some years before switching to digital in 2005.

I travel extensively both for my work and for my curiosity of discovering new people and new places. When I travel for work, I often travel alone and my camera has often been my travel companion.

I will love to have the opportunity to join a professional photographer on the ‘WorldNomads’ missing to Oman. I look forward to this experience and learn from this unique opportunity. Perhaps one day I can produce a book with numbers and pictures!

These photos where taken on Tuesday morning at the Dakshinkali temple near Kathmandu.

The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali, one of the incarnations of Parvati.

Dakshinkali temple is of great importance among those who need her blessing and also among the blessed ones. There is a strong believe in the ability of goddess to make wishes come true.

These photos are for you to see and in honour of Kali!
