My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Sometimes in life, experiences are passing by without us realising they are happening and what effect they have on us. Time is running fast. We find friends, we lose them. The sun rises, the sun sets. Everything goes by. But then we stop. Like I did on a trip to Rwanda. A friend who works as a development worker asked me to visit him in Central Africa. I said yes without actually realising what I had just done.
I spent almost two months in Rwanda and had the most powerful, challenging and moving time of my life. I lived without electricity and warm water but it did not bother me that much. I was taking pictures every day from dawn till dusk and felt like I could do this forever.
I am applying for this scholarship because I fell in love with photography and Africa. I would love to learn more about both and come back as a different person or at least with a different perspective.
As a journalist I am passionately curious and cannot wait to see more of this beautiful planet.
Thanks a lot for the offer to apply for this great challenge!
