Thank you Kruševo

I live in a small country. So small that we often joke how you only need twenty minutes to get from any point to any other point. A year ago I thought I had seen everything worth seeing. Lakes, waterfalls, endangered species, I took selfies with friendly animals, stepped on the whitest snow on our mountains and felt the heartbeat of my beautiful Macedonia. Boy, was I wrong.
One day, as we were talking with my mom about her origins, she mentioned that she wants to visit her relatives in a town called Kruševo. This little gem is located at an altitude of over 4,429 feet, which makes it the highest town in Macedonia. It also makes it the only place where the air you breathe is so clean that it can detox your mind and turn you into a genius. And yes this is true because if you do a research you will find that some of the most notable people in Macedonian history were born there. Also this is the hometown of our biggest music star Toše Proeski. This is the part where I get really emotional, but I try not to make typos because I’m already teary-eyed. Toše died in a car accident in 2007. He was working on numerous projects and one of them was a monastery that he helped build with his own hands. I really wanted to go there, so it was a deal.
Eight kilometers north from Kruševo. The landscapes on both sides of the road while driving will help you experience 100 shades of green. First thing I did when we got there was looking down from the highest point. Inhale the freedom and faith that Toše felt while he was here, the place he adored and he made sure that everyone who visits feels the same way. We entered and lit candles. The rooms for guests are always ready for new travelers and people that want to spend time relaxing. The friendly people that take care of the monastery offered us food, drinks and we had to ask if we could enter the Toše’s room. They let us in the room in which he wrote songs, relaxed and where he kept all the gifts that fans gave him. The walls knew all his secrets. We sat down outside on little three-legged chairs and we ate celuvki. At one point we all got quiet. I thought about happy things, about what is there for me in the future, I got enthusiastic. I know that HE whispered something and that is why my mind got positively crazy. I thanked him for that.
If by any chance you travel to my beautiful Macedonia, go visit Kruševo and Toše’s monastery. And don’t forget to ask the natives for a delicious portion of celuvki.
