Impulsive Study

TAIWAN | Thursday, 8 May 2014 | Views [226] | Scholarship Entry

I was living in Taiwan for almost a year, for studying Chinese of course. What funny about my trip was, I am not really preparing well for it. I remembered it was because a friend of mine that already applied for the courses offer me to apply to the same Chinese course. Since I was jobless at the moment I decided to go right away.

Everything was surreal, from the moment I applied for the courses until the day I leave the country. First, my hometown was flooded when I was applying, luckily my house is quite high from the ground. So, when my garage was flooded, I can still apply through the internet, and asked my other friend to took the acceptance letter from Taiwan.

After the acceptance letter has come to me, me and my friend started to apply for the Visa. Since I am an Indonesian, and we are have a ton of worker. Applying for a visa could be quite a work. They kinda afraid we will work instead of studying there. After I submit the required documents, apparently I have to add one more documents, as a supporting documents. Which was a bit odd, because my friend can pass with just the same sort of documents as mine. But, my fortune was great, after I submit the additional document, my visa was approved.

Since I got my visa, I started to looking for a plane ticket, which was not quite a trouble. The problem came when I have to packed. Since this is my first time leaving home for study, not to mention overseas. I have very little idea about what I have to pack. Which led me to bring my phone, laptop, and tons of clothing, because I have quite a posture, and nothing else. I figure I will buy it all in Taipei. Which is a right decision, because my baggage is only 0.25 KG left from being overweight.

After all that works, I am finally landed in Taipei, Taiwan. A completely strange country. even though I am a Chinese descendant, I have no Chinese ability at all. I felt like a real legal alien.

Luckily our friends was kind enough to help us looking for a place to stay, setting up our phone, and gave us simple tutorial how to live there.

Starting from that experiences, my eyes started to recognize some fun things that might happen on our travel. From an impulsive decision, it led onto an encouraging experiences for me to travel more!
