World of dreamers...

- Where are you from? - was the first question this man asked me.
-From México- I replied.
It was a sunny day in the capital of Spain, the beautiful Madrid. I was sitting in Plaza del Sol, with my sign of free caricatures, my markers and my sheets of paper.
- I supposed you were mexican, you look very alike to a beautiful woman I once met in Acapulco- he said, then took the place next to me and started a conversation asking me what I was doing there.
I explained the man my project, which started after reading a blog from a photographer that make portraits of people in one of the biggest cities of the world, New York. Everytime he posts a picture, he also writes a description about it, mostly stories. After reading it for a while, I realized that many of them were full of wishes, "would like to", "shoulds"... broken dreams.
Like every artistic soul, I've always liked to collect stories, to create and to make people happy, so then I thought it would be a good idea to realize those broken dreams in a rather metaphorical way. I considered the best option to draw them in caricatures, the advantage of drawing is that you can change reality easier, it could be as surreal as you want.
- That's pretty sweet. I want you to draw me in Acapulco- the man said.
-What a beautiful place...- he sighed and started telling me his story.
-When I was in my twenties, your age, I guess. I went there for vacations for a couple months, and I met this girl, Lupita. She was amazing and we were in crazy in love, but I couldn't be brave enough to stay with her, either to bring her with me to Spain. That is something I always regret.. I can certainly say that I left the love of my life there.- I was staring at him and drawing the caricature while he was talking. I felt wordless, so I better smiled. He closed his eyes for a second and smiled me back.
- If you ever think you already found the love of your life, go for it and take any risk it could involve, because if you let it go you will always regret it, like me. You have to take the opportunities at the moment- He adviced me.
I wish I could explain my feelings in that moment. I gave him his drawing, he stared at it for a while and then he gave me a good tip.
-This is for you, so you can keep helping people to realize their dreams.- he smiled, took the caricature and left.
He didn't give me his name, and he didn't want his face to appear in the photo I took, because he is married now to another woman.
