My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I imaged becoming a war correspondent in my younger years with the idea of seeing life in the rawest extreme form and ultimately capturing the meaning of life in an image. I joined the Army and came no closer to the romantic ideals I set for myself.
In later life I have had the opportunity to travel to a few countries and if given the chance would go to every country in the world at the drop of a hat. To see the world and its culture, to experience peoples suffering and triumphs and the beauty of nature and man, is just the purest joy of discovery. To photograph it, to capture moments that could tell a story: of a tribe, a race, an animal, the environment and to have some bearing, some influence is what any person craves.
I absolutely love photography, the art, the technical side, the editorial side and to me it is the career I am pursing because it is what I love. I will always take photos but wish to always be a photographer.
The National Geographic is as iconic as Sir David Attenborough and no one would turn down this opportunity. To learn from someone as experienced and skilled as Jason Edwards is a fantastic opportunity. I am the man for the job.
Thanks very much
