Stunning!!! OK so you have probably read a thousand journals that tell you how fantastic a particular place is. But really, this place is something else.
Guajiru is a fishing village on the north east coast of Brazil. If you have some understanding of this area it sits between Fortaleza and the popular resort of Jericoacoara.
To get here I took a flight to fortaleza and then took a 2 hour drive down highway 85.
I am staying at a place called Rede Beach Resort. Run by young english people (who have a bit of style!), it is paradise. It is beachfront and has only about 20 rooms all of which have a view of the sea. It is really relaxed and laid back but has a distinctive Brazilian feel with lots of wood and locally made furniture and Artisan stuff.
Last night I had a twighlight massage in a specially constructed treehouse. It overlooks the pool and the beach and ocean and is one of the treatments that they offer. Others include things like Ofuro (Japanese bath), manicure, pedicures, waxings etc. The masseuse's name was Gilberto and whilst he did not speak a word of English (the same as all the locals) he understood how to get the knots out of my shoulders!!
The pool here is like nothing else I have seen in this area and overlooks the beach and sea. So far I have spent a day sat in the jucuzzi being served cocktails by the waiters. You must try the NINI it is awesome - and as it only costs about 2 pounds. Couple that with beer at a quid a pint and I think many more days will be spent in the same place.
Kitesurfing is popular as the wind is really strong. The water is warm, the sea calm and what these guys can do with a plank of wood and a bit of material is amazing. There is a kiteschool up the road which I will investigate and report back later!!!
Dinner tonight will be at the resort's restaurante. You can dine outside overlooking the beach under the stars or this hotel does a romantic dinner on the beach. They construct a little dining room on the beach for you to have champagne and lobster under the stars!! Maybe tomorrow...
