My Scholarship entry - My Miracle Land - Tana Toraja

I take photos because I can't help it. I don't call myself a photographer, but I explore the world around me like one. I've saved in images a world of memories, places and people and one day... Meanwhile I will keep exploring with an open heart, mind, eye and lens. What I love most in photography is its capacity of making seconds eternal. It's the transformation of a passing moment into a perennial legacy if the visual story is well told.
I would like to win because I would like to know what I'm worth as a story teller and a photographer. Because it would honor me to receive the possibility to convey the beauty of an amazing place like the Amazonian Peru in lasting images, to learn how to tell its story in a sincere way. While traveling with my cheap camera I met so many people that invited me into their lives, to "steal" a second of their existence and turn it into a static image, and it made me feel humble and grateful. Recently I've turned much more toward the natural world, toward the extraordinary behind a landscape, a bird, an animal the moment they are turned into a still. I'm sure the Amazon could offer endless opportunities of such extraordinary moments.
