My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | flickr photos

A story of what a night in the city can offer: On the run towards a goal, fuzzy and high speed – down town gathering with a versatile twist – back stage of the commercial party – human lust, greed and sacrifice.

I like to express individual spirits and feelings rather than familiar stories. I believe in the simple and inclusive rather than the complex and exclusive. I believe everybody has an story to tell, and the challenge is to find the proper means of communication.

For the time of writing, I am working on my master thesis within development and environmental geography at Copenhagen University – a multicultural and cross disciplinary study of the expanding cement industry in the Chinese Shandong Province and the following consequence for the rural environment, communities and livelihood. During my studies multicultural understanding and fieldwork have been a common feature, which also serves as a direct link to my photography, as the human and cultural understanding are crucial in both disciplines.

In 2009 I did a six month internship at the Danish Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, working with the Danish Aid assistance. The experience opened my eyes and inspired me even more to work within development.

My vision and dream is to merge my academic practice together with a strong visual and illustrative sidetrack in form of my photographs. This will create a highly informative mixture of theoretical aspects combined with approachable and absorbable photographs which altogether increase the understanding of the recipients.

A Travel Photography Scholarship from World Nomads, National Geographic and JoJo Adventures Bhutan will be a dream come true, and I will contribute with constructive, creative and an open-minded photographs and interactions.
