My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I am an eager amateur photographer with a deeply rooted love for nature. Since I could remember I wanted to capture images of birds, animals, flowers and any nature seen. My inspiration is to be able to bring this love of nature I have to other people thru my photography. The first time in my life where I was given the choice for a birthday present I chose a camera. This started my passion in wild life photography. The theme behind my images that I am submitting is a desperate story. One of suffering, death and an eco-system that is under siege from the skies. Is this because of global warming and the human influence we have on nature? I’m not sure. All I know is that this is horrible. The image that I want to move people the most would be the one with the dead fish. I think death is a subject that speaks words to any audience. The desperation of the animals is so noticeable that one can smell it in the air. Life seems to have abandoned this lake. And even in this time of hardship there is some hope. A young lion stands out as a sign of nature fighting back and life continuing in this deadly season. The Bee-eater sits patiently awaiting the promise of rain that the clouds bring with them. What would I want out of the scholar ship? An opportunity to learn more from a mentor and to be able to do what I love most in the world, capturing our natural history and in doing this building a love for nature in our future generations.
