My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

USA | Friday, October 15, 2010 | 5 photos

Place: America

In early 2010, I lost my job, put my personal belongings into storage and commenced my year-long road trip around the United States. To add an interesting twist to an ordinary road trip, I find a date in each state I visit and write about it in my blog “50 Dates Around the States”.

Dating is fun, but the main goal of my journey is to photograph the many beautiful places in America. Being a newbie to photography, I knew this road trip would help me learn my first SLR camera that I purchased a mere two years ago. The camera mostly resided in the closet for the first 18 months because I was too intimidated by the many functions and settings.

I mapped out my journey around the USA to take advantage of the seasons: spring on the west coast, summer in the Midwest, and fall in New England. The winter has yet to arrive.

The photographs I chose for review are:

• A Spring Snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains
• Steps on a Seattle Beach in Spring
• Midwest Summer Blossoms
• Fall Colors on the Sculptured Rocks in New England
• The Great American Symbol: An Eagle in Acadia

My skills will catapult to another level as the recipient of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
