N'Dele resembles a busy intersection in the middle of the African continent. Many come and go, but very few want to stay. Abah is a nomad cattle-breeder from Niger. He lost his herds passing through the region. Now he spends his days at the market waiting for someone to give him food. Waiting to go home one day.

When boys become men they rarely stay in N'Dele. Some go to mining areas to look for dimonds. Others go to neighbouring Chad and Soudan to look for jobs. Many join rebel groups and it is hard to tell whether they know what they look for. Sometimes they come back. Often they don't. But their women are always there. Waiting.

Camara in his restaurant waiting for clients. Now he is also waiting to see what the negotiations between the government and the rebels will bring. Although that is not so important. Presidents come and go. Rebel groups get formed and disassembled. His restaurant is always there.
