Being Richie Rich

I truly will never forget the day I came back to Peru after working for five months in the US. It was crazy -aside from my family giving me endless hugs and food like there's no tomorrow- because I realized that the money I had was worth almost three times more in Peru.
Of course having spent most of my childhood in Peru, I knew that. But this was the first time I actually had been making money and living in another country for five months. I had gotten used to spending around $30 when I went to the supermarket, but here I would only spend around $10 and I bought the exact same things, if not more. It was the first time that I felt rich. I could travel a lot more in Peru, buy really nice things, go to fancy restaurants, go to the theatre without having to count my pennies. It was awesome.
Whenever I go out with my friends for lunch in the US, I would spend around $15-$20, but here I was spending $7 tops. And I was going to nice restaurants, not expensive ones. But even when I did go to an expensive restaurant, I ended up paying close to $17 which was crazy to me. I felt like I was on top of the world. I loved Peru even more because things were natural, delicious and cheap. Trying to find natural juice in the states was a nightmare, here you can find it in almost every corner. It's amazing, and some are as cheap as a quarter. The food is what I missed the most when I was in the States, peruvian food is the best.
I appreciated a lot more what I had in Peru once I came back. But I learned a lot in the States. I knew where I wanted this country to head. I acknowledge a lot of problems that I didn't really see before going to the States.
I still have some of the money I brought from the States, I'm saving up for my next trip... I'm thinking Europe.
