My Scholarship entry - Switzerland: a land of misty dreams

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only the first page” (Augustine of Hippo) an all time favourite that I’m going to rephrase: “the world is a book of photographs and those who do not travel capture only the first page.”

My name is Anna. In 2008 when I went on a trip to Europe with my sister I first took notice of the world through a lense. I then realized how a captured moment can become a memory long after those who made the memory cease to be. It is these captured moments that connect people and history from one generation to the next. A love affair for capturing the world was now etched in my character.

I once dreamed of exploring a place that seemed surreal but I was adventurous enough to tackle its grandeur and from it a story unfolded, as showcased in the submitted photographs. I was able to capture the moments which sucked me in like a sinkhole and now they are forever engraved on paper in a maze of colourful ink. My photographs showcase the world exactly as it is; beautifully untamed, original and fresh. Going on assignment with Jason would enable me to showcase all these aspects and learn new ones under the guidance of his expert eye.
