My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
India | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
Being an avid traveler I took to writing about my experiences to aid memory. Although I discovered it late (a couple of years ago), photography was a natural progression. Since then, I've felt greatly empowered to express myself through images. Within photography, in terms of freelance assignments or even a possible career, I intend to pursue documentary humanitarian and environmental photojournalism.
Jason identifies himself as a "natural history" photographer and that is something that deeply resonates with me. Humanity is a fragment of nature and its fate is deeply tied to the fate of this planet. I believe all stories of humanity are episodes of the natural history of our planet. I have a deep, abiding love for nature and wish to use my photo-journalistic work to create awareness about humanity's deep bond with nature and our need to save the fragile natural habitats of our planet for a harmonious future of our species on this planet. I hope to win an opportunity to be mentored by Jason, a true master in his craft, and under his tutelage hone my craft and learn how to make my imagery more powerfully document my experiences and express how I feel about them.
