My Entry 2012 Travel Photography Scholarship

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited (Swayambhunath Stupa)

Nepal | Thursday, January 3, 2013 | 5 photos

Photography to me is not holding a camera & taking a photograph, it is a feeling, a moment, a rush, a shift in my being. With every photograph, I not only learn a little more about a place, a person, a culture, but that of myself. It adds to my life experience. I become more open to the stories out there waiting to be heard, to be felt, to be understood, to not be looked at but really seen. To take a photograph of one of these stories gives me a deep sense of enlightenment & amazement at the ebb & flow of nature & the lives of those that grace this wondrous earth. Sunrise, sunset…life. As a young girl I held a certain curiously for photography. But it was not until I bought my first SLR & hopped on a plane that the passion for Photography filled the dustiest corners of my soul. When I traveled to Nepal & India, the experience moved me. My dream to become a travel photographer was awoken. I have traveled to many places, but have not yet touched the surface of what I want to see & learn. I stumbled across the Scholarship with Jason Edwards at a time when I crave to be more and to learn more. This is an opportunity that I only dream of and it would be such an honor to receive it.
