My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photography started as an excuse to climb mountains without mum thinking I was a weirdo. I look for simpler compositions in a landscape where I don't so much consider content but how the object is composed within the frame. I am unmotivated by the post processing of images; because what I captured in the field, is a direct function of all my experiences. Hence if I changed it, the image loses relevance to me. My home, has an opportunity to celebrate its existing wilderness. Unfortunately, too few Tasmanians are celebrating this gift. I strive to capture images that I believe in and hopefully influence the change that is required in people for a better world. Through this communication, there is a knowledge that can be transferred through all people. This is the power that all artists have but only a few know how to use it. I would like to think that this may be the greatest lesson that I could obtain from this scholarship. I hope to shift my photographic paradigm so that I can communicate effectively with my images. I also hope to share my experience with others who are much better at the craft then I am, so that they too, can present our home as something to celebrate. Thank you.
