Grab a slice of Italian life!
It might be the Latin blood running through their veins or just the killer-strong shots of espresso they drink every day, but Italian people will enjoy almost everything that’s fast: fast love, fast cars, fast talking. Not fast food, however.
Any “Italiano vero” respects the good food, as well as he respects his family. So, in Italy, you’ll see restaurants packed with people that are taking out their family or friends for some delicious ravioli, tagliatelle, fish, prosciutto or some dry wine (as Italy is not the largest wine producer in the world for nothing).
I know what you’re thinking of, we’re getting to the pizza part right away: yes, Italy is famous for its soft and tasty pizza with mozzarella, but that’s not necessary what the local people would eat. It’s in the warm heart of the Italians to prefer eating things that were grown in the hot Mediterranean sun. That’s why they always use two main ingredients: olive oil and lemon juice. You can’t have any salad, fish or pasta without these two magical ingredients that keep inside of them the very essence of this country.
Italian people are loud and happy, with no “artificial additives” in their behavior. They keep it simple. So does their food. And because in Italy every meal is considered to be a celebration, it will take a while to finish what you have in front of you. You will first go through the “antipasto” (appetizers) followed by two main courses. Then, brace yourself with one of the greatest coffees you can have in Europe and have some fruits or cheese for dessert. Feeling too full? It often happens here with so much great food, so that’s why Italians invented the “digestivo”: tasty alcoholic drinks, such as limoncello or grappa, that help you digest.
See now? You don’t need to worry, there’s a solution for everything and any Italian knows that. Would you like to learn about this “dolce far niente” living style too? The answer is simple: have another bite (of Italian life)!
