I'm in the midst of a four month sabbatical, time I wanted to take to explore the world. In devoting this time to being more present and focusing on a love of mine -- travel -- I've also re-discovered my love for photography. As I will be on the road for over 100 days, I've had to travel quite light. With little room for souveneirs, photography has been my way to connect with my surroundings and an attempt to capture these magical moments for my own memories as well as to share with family and friends. To be selected for the scholarship would allow me develop and deepen two complementary passions. When asked the question of what I would choose to do if I weren't in my current profession (working on the complicated American healthcare system, rewarding but also complex), my answer has always involved a combination of travel and photography. I would love the opportunity to find out whether these passions could develop into a primary focus for me.
