My Scholarship entry - Roadside stories
Vietnam | Saturday, November 1, 2014 | 5 photos
I am a photographer from the Russian Federation. I mostly shoot fashion and catalogues at home, but recently I flew to Vietnam and stayed there for 45 days, seeing the country from a bike. I loved the experience, really tried to shoot unconventionally to capture the real spirit and essence of the country. In fact I loved it so much that I changed my whole outlook on life and what I wanted to do with it. I think too many people are caught up in the touristy aspect of travelling and I want to inspire people to be more adventurous, to discover more of what the world has to offer. The best sights I saw and the best experiences I had were many miles away from the touristy attractions. I loved meeting the locals, the lone travellers who were, like me, just taking in the raw beauty.
I hope that if I win this scolarship I will learn a lot about how to shoot better and more interesting material, I hope that I could give back to the world some inspiring work that will push people to discover more of the happiness in the beauty around us, not in the luxury hotels and sensless spending. The reference to "Into the Wild" in my screen name is no accident:)
Thank you and take care:)
