Catching the travel bug is an easy thing to do. It happened before I even realized it and I should probably give the credit to my parents. They were the ones who threw some camping gear in the car, craddled three kids into the back seat of our Ford Explorer, and hit the road all summer.
Arond the same time we were taking weekend gettaways to the sleepy coastal towns and the remote mountain cabins, my mom handed me my first journal. I talked a mile a minute and it seemed only fitting that a chatty kid would have a lot to write about. She was right I did have a lot to say and I couldn't help wanting to share my experiences with those around me.
I journaled my way through middle school, high school, and college leaving a paper trail of experiences in my wake. My list of places I've been to is smaller than I'd like, but it is growing and I see things in the everyday experience whereever I go. Every place, every person, and every experience has something magical about it. The job of a writer is to reveal it and expose the story and show the raw beauty of life.
