My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Macau | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
I am a 28 year old Filipino living in the Philippines currently taking up my second degree and will graduate this year. Photography and Journalism have always interested me and after finishing my degree in Creative Writing, I decided to take another degree, this time in Journalism to better reach my goal of being a photojournalist.
I have always been held in awe by photojournalists because they see what others don't and they are also able to work quickly under pressure. While images of conflict come to mind when one mentions photojournalism, i believe that is only one part of being a photojournalist. Photojournalism is about showing others what the world is like differently. Be it the horrors of war, unexplored places and yes, even known tourist destinations, such as Macau.
A trip to Macau gave me the opportunity to show people the other, quieter side of Macau. A side which few tourists rarely see if at all.
I believe with the skills picked up from my previous degree, the one i am about to finish, a natural curiosity, and most of all, wanting this scholarship, makes me an eager and promising participant. The knowledge and wisdom that you will impart will be put to good use.
