How hongkong looked to me at that time.

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Friday, September 24, 2010 | flickr photos

When I was 14, my mother propositioned me that perhaps one day I may live beyond the boundaries of Australia. This being the first time such a thought had ever presented itself to me, I asked "like where?".

"Hong Kong maybe" she said.

And so it was that Hong Kong found a special place in my heart before it was even known to me.

At the age of 24, during a stop over between South Korea to Cambodia I finally got my chance to see Hong Kong. As I sat on the train to downtown Hong Kong, I felt over come with emotion. To be there even if only for a simple stop over, I found affirmation in my desire to have a life that is anything but ordinary. That my dreams even if not now, can one day be fulfilled.

This collection of 5 photos shows 'how Hong Kong looked to me at that time'.

I hope to be selected for this Scholarship because it would be the most amazing adventure in my life. Not only would it help my future prospects but it would be a highlight of my life.
Bhutan and the himalayas are among some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The opportunity to see it with my own eyes and to connect with the people who live there holds great appeal to me. The chance to share my work with the world would also be personally rewarding.
