One of valuable moment that I keep in my mind was community service. It is academic program for final year student to implement their capacity through empowerment and enlighten local community. Together with my fellas, we were placing in rural village, totally it was pole apart with our daily life. Most of us came from urban area, where public facilities are pampering day by day. “Lembur Kahuripan” is the place we felt reborn. We are surrounding by simplicity and hospitality of local resident, we easily find smiling face and greet warmly from them. Local wisdoms were nurtured from generation to generation, such as: the spirit of togetherness, keeping balance the ecosystem, and respecting the ancestors.

However, it was not simple job to catch with them, particularly in delivering course material. One of common case is they rather going to work than attending course. Sometimes in discussion they lack of attention, then rehearsal became a golden key. Until we realize, the method we used was not appropriate. From that point, I face the reality in our society, something that never taught inside the class and I have to solve it with the team. As time goes by, I learn that in understanding phenomena we cannot see by its cover even only using one perspective. It is obviously change my paradigm and enrich my framework of thinking.

“Lembur Kahuripan” from the foothill, from the splash of waterfall, from the paddy field, from the fog blanket every morning, from the warm sunrise, from the shade of tropical forest. I MISS YOU, be grateful to be a part of yours, even only in a month.
