Cattle ranching in some of the most remote regions of Chile comes with its challenges. While pastures are plentiful and grass is green for the cattle, getting to an estancia - or ranch - accessible only by water becomes increasingly difficult in winter as temperatures drop below freezing. These workers prepare the small outboard motorboat for the two hour trip navigating the fjords of Last Hope Sound (Sena Ultima Esperanza) and then the large Serrano River before arriving back at the estancia.
