Maramures - unchanged way of life
Maramures is a region in the northern-west part of Romania, at the foot of the Carpathians.
One can have an impression that in certain aspects the way of life there has remained unchanged for a century.
The tradition – its follow-up and maintenance plays an important role for the local population, also for younger generations.
The habitants of Maramures lives mostly from manual occupations like agriculture, logging and timber sales or sheep grazing.
Although economically quite poor, people are characterized by their great hospitality. "Guest in the house, the house of God" means much more than just a proverb.
I love travelling, discovering new places, getting closer to new cultures, listening, exchanging, sharing, looking at the world from a different perspective.
My curiosity of the world as a traveler so naturally pushed me into photography almost 3 years ago.
For me photography is an amazing tool allowing not only to memorize travel adventures, but above all to witness different phenomena of the surrounding world. It is a means of telling a story.
I’m constantly trying to improve my abilities to better translate the reality into the most capturing image. I’m still an amateur but I hope to become a pro.
No wonder, the World Nomads scholarship is dream opportunity for me.
